A few highlights this year for me was to cover the men’s NCAA regional basketball tournament in Denver. I also covered the U.S. Boxing Championships in Colorado Springs which is an Olympic qualifying event for the games in London. It’s the first summer games to allow female boxers to compete.
I also photographed the Laramie Burlesque Troupe in which I did a photo essay. Being in this business for going on 16 years I am always looking to cover something new and this event was definitely different from the norm especially considering the conservative nature of a town this size, Laramie. Also, I photographed the likes of Tim Tebow in the NFL game he came in to replace Kyle Orton against San Diego. “Tebow Time” has provided great opportunities for photographers on the field and off on the sidelines. What a refreshing athlete to not only watch in the Broncos come from behind victories, but the message he has to deliver.
