Ohio Sports Teams
A little more than half my adolescence was growing up in a small farming community in the village of Genoa in northwestern Ohio. As a boy growing up in a huge sports state like Ohio I was a fan of both the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals NFL football teams. Football was my favorite sport, but I found myself also being an Indians and Reds fan too. It was hard to decide who to root for when my two favorite teams matched up.
And when half of my family moved to Colorado when I was age 12 I never had a chance to go to a college or professional sports event as I was one of the ones who went to Colorado. Despite moving so far away and becoming a local sports fan of Colorado teams I will still pull for Ohio when in a big game.
Well, finally at age 44 I went on a working vacation to visit one of my four sisters and my one brother who reside in Toledo when Wyoming went on the road to play the Rockets in football. I spent a week back in Ohio and my family rode together to watch a Cleveland Indians doubleheader at Progressive Field which was the last two games of the season.
After photographing the Toledo vs. Wyoming game on Saturday I traveled back to Cleveland again with fellow US Presswire photographer Andrew Weber to photograph the Browns vs. Bengals NFL game which was a thriller as the Browns pulled off an upset 23-20. The photographer who normally went to the home games with Weber was adopting a child with his wife and couldn’t make it.
It was quite a fluke and a great opportunity for myself to go watch my favorite childhood teams battle it out!
